Hello Megan,
I echo Cathy's questions regarding your thoughts and stance on alternative schools, like Churchill?

Thank you for your time and response,

Hi Megan,

My son attends Churchill Alternative Public School and I am concerned about the future of the alternative program in Ottawa. I was wondering if you could tell me what your views are on continuing/expanding alternative schools in Ottawa, especially since Zone 10 includes two (Churchill and Fisher Park).

Many thanks,

Cathy McBride

I read your electoral platform and I was quite impressed by your promise of a citizens' committee with whom you will meet on a regular basis.

I think that it is very important to meet with your constituents so that as an elected official you will have a better understanding of their needs.

Best to you in your campaign

Anne-Marie G.

Thank you for sharing your experience Leah! Your words are insightful and inspiring for women. I am 19 years old and agree that women have come a long way in terms of gaining respect and rights in society. Nonetheless, there is still much work to be done; especially in many areas outside of Canada.
I look forward to learning more about the G20 Girls and Women summit and becoming engaged in women's organizations.

All the best,

Joanna

A Midsummer Night’s Dream was awesome! I’ve never been interested in politics, but I would definitely like to learn more following the party.

As the past president of the Carleton University Academic Staff Association I can agree with Giovanna's assessment of why women may feel reticent from running for political office. Indeed, the same reasons apply to women not wanting to run for executive positions on union boards...that is, they either don't feel qualified or they don't have enough experience to run. But then one must begin the process somewhere and the best place to begin is by actually being elected to the board of the organization. Let's not forget that mentoring is part of every board member's duties so women should be encouraged by this and seek out such positions, whether in parliament or on any other executive body.
