New job: Events Lead

Equal Voice is seeking an experienced Events Lead to organize the logistics of Equal Voice’s events. 

Who We Are:

Equal Voice ( is a national, bilingual, multi-partisan, not-for-profit organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada. Multi-partisanship is at the core of our work and Equal Voice brings together people from all of Canada’s political parties, united in the common goal of increasing women’s representation in politics. Equal Voice has Chapters across Canada, all supporting and preparing women to win nomination campaigns and election campaigns at all levels of government.

The Position:

The Events Lead will work with the Equal Voice’s national office and regional Chapters to implement events across the country. In this position you will be working in communities across Canada both online and in-person and it is likely you will travel away from home several times a year (public health restrictions permitting).  You will work an average of 35 hours per week which will often include evening or weekend events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Programs and working closely with the Executive Director, Manager of Communications and Manager of Development, the Events Lead will be responsible for the organization and logistics of in-person and online events. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • All event logistics including venue and hotel negotiations, accommodation booking, audio visual, catering, travel, signage, materials, etc.
  • Act as a liaison between Equal Voice and vendors including all procurement of contracts, services, and materials
  • Assist in the identification and invite guests and speakers from all parties, including elected officials, and campaign experts
  • Alongside national office, lead the coordination of a 500 person Gala dinner
  • Create detailed plans, budgets, and coordinate marketing promotional materials
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager of Development and sponsors to ensure all sponsorship expectations are exceeded
  • Lead and coordinate multiple in-person networking receptions across Canada
  • Regularly liaise with Equal Voice Chapters across Canada and assist where needed to deliver regional events
  • Prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility at all events
  • Work collaboratively with the Equal Voice team and manage contract staff and volunteers.
  • Work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Significant experience in organizing large and small in-person events.  Most of this experience will likely be pre-Covid.
  • Experience organizing large conferences or VIP gala events with high profile guests.
  • Good understanding of the events industry, including hotels, venues, catering, and AV procurement.
  • Experience working in politics, for example as a staffer.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and demonstrated experience working collaboratively with groups and/or individuals with diverse ideas, beliefs, and opinions.
  • Capacity to interact with elected officials across the political spectrum and thrive in a multi-partisan environment.
  • Exceptional ability to build and foster relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Must have strong oral communication/public speaking skills.
  • Previous event coordination/management experience.
  • Procurement experience
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Bilingual.
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid 19.  The Events Lead will be expected to attend events and meetings in a wide variety of venues, many of which require Covid-19 vaccination, and full vaccination against Covid 19 will be a requirement for the successful candidate before starting work.


This is a full-time salaried term position until April 2023. This position offers three weeks paid vacation per year (in addition to office closure between December 24th and January 1st). After a three-month probationary period you will be eligible for Equal Voice’s health and dental benefits.
