Join Equal Voice Calgary to discuss the topic of Black Settler Women and Alberta Politics.

About this event

We are excited to announce our upcoming event in honour of Black History Month. Join us over the lunch hour to discuss the topic of Black Settler Women and Alberta Politics. We are thrilled to have diversity and inclusion specialist Kathleen Johnson present.

In Canada, Black History Month has been celebrated for over 25 years, thanks to the Honourable Jean Augustine, the first Black Woman elected to the House of Commons. In 1995, she championed a motion to declare February Black History Month; the motion passed unanimously. During this important month, Equal Voice Calgary is committed to further amplifying the voices of Black Canadians.
