Webinar: 50-30 Challenge – The Importance of Representation in Governments

Discover the transformative power of inclusive workplace culture by joining us for an enlightening conversation “50-30 Challenge – The Importance of Representation in Governments,” organized by Egale Canada in collaboration with Equal Voice as a part of the 50-30 Challenge. This thought-provoking discussion is a necessary step toward creating a more inclusive and representative society.

In Canada, we strive to challenge organizations to increase the representation and inclusion of diverse groups within their workplaces, highlighting the benefits of giving all Canadians a seat at the table. But what about our highest and most powerful workplaces? Governments play a pivotal role in shaping our society, yet we still face significant gaps in representation.

At the federal level, Canada has yet to surpass 30% representation of women, and the numbers for equity-seeking individuals stand at roughly 16%. Even at our provincial and territorial legislatures, where progress has been made, the average representation of women is at 36%. These statistics underscore the urgent need for change and highlight the importance of this conversation.

Led by Chi Nguyen, the Executive Director of Equal Voice, and Honourable Julie Green Minister of Health and Social Services; Responsible for Persons with Disabilities; Responsible for Seniors, this conversation will delve into strategies to increase representation, the vital role of data collection and benchmarking, and the responsibility of governments to lead by example.

Join us in recognizing the necessity of inclusive representation in governments. By participating in this conversation, you will contribute to a movement that empowers diverse voices, ensures equal opportunities, and reshapes the future of governance.
