Location: Jean Pigott Place, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West

The National Capital Region Chapter of Equal Voice is hosting this event to put the 2018 Municipal Election in people's minds and to promote women in municipal politics.

A panel discussion will allow attendees to hear what it's like to serve, contemplate considerations leading to a decision to run, hear about attracting volunteers and donations, what people wish they knew beforehand etc. The event will also include a networking opportunity for all concerned, which can serve as a great way for people to drum up support for a campaign and for individuals to let someone know they're interested in working on a campaign.

*Special thanks to Councillor Jody Mitic for graciously hosting us! Light refreshments will be served. Cash bar.

Speakers include:

  • Moderator - Kathleen Monk
  • Councillor Marianne Wilkinson
  • Councillor Diane Deans
  • Jesse Cressman-Dickinson, Advisor - Community Relations and Special Projects in Councillor Tobi Nussbaum's office

"To Run or Not To Run ... What Questions Should I be Asking?"

Our Skills to Go events are back! Join Equal Voice's National Capital Area (NCR) Chapter for our first Skills to Go workshop of the year - To Run or Not To Run... What Questions Should I be Asking?

As the first installment of our 2016 series, this workshop will aim to introduce participants to the important questions they should be asking when deciding whether or not to run for elected office. Whether it is municipal, provincial or federal politics that hold your interests, this panel style workshop will provide a platform for dialogue and discussion on how to approach this question, and all the professional and personal angles participants should consider.

This panel will be composed of elected officials who will share their experiences running for office, what they learned and what they would do differently. Panelists will be confirmed and announced soon. Stay tuned!

Follow us on Twitter and on Facebook for updates and future workshop and event announcements!
